$5000 Filmmaker Grant
New Mexico is known for its western film productions and the hope is this grant will encourage independent film makers to continue to grow that tradition. The money was raised from hundreds of New Mexican residences who are fans of westerns, and want to encourage our local talented filmmakers.
The submission process will open on January 1, 2018 and run until February 28, 2018. The NMFF will manage the submission process, judging and award ceremony. The grant winner will be announced March 31, 2018. The film must be completed by October 1, 2018 and be at least 5 minutes long. Filmmakers must supply a one page resume, a brief description of the film, a 4-5-page treatment or description of the story, and if any of the lead actor/crew members are known, their names and skill.
The film should revolve around true New Mexico history, primarily set in the time period 1850-1920 and have horses. The NMFF can help connect the grant winner with appropriate background actors, ranches, western sets, period clothes, horses, firearms, wagons, etc. as needed.
